Oregon-Ohhh!

Today, I am starting on a new herbal project. I shall be concocting... wait for it.... Oregano essential oil!

This will be by far, one of the most useful things I do thus far. Why? One might ask. The reasoning:
Oregano, aside from being an excellent culinary ingredient has (wouldn't you know it) several medicinal uses!

- fungacidal /astringent mouthwash
- antimircrobial (treatment of mild cases of staphylococcus, e.coli, salmonella, listeria, yeast etc.)
- naringin (bitter taste that inhibits carcinogenic cell growth)
- anti-rheumatoid
- and the list goes on!

Here's the scoop:
1.) Pluck oregano leaves from stems (or include stems for a more potent oil)
2.) Place in an unsealed (thick) bag
3.) Pound or roll with meat mallet or rolling pin to release oils
4.) Heat skillet with coconut/ grapeseed/ olive oil (DO NOT BOIL)
5.) Let cool slightly and add oil to bag
6.) Gently squeeze mixture in bag
7.) Pour in glass jar, seal, and store in cool spot for 2 weeks
8.) Strain leaves, et voila!

- Dilute a few drops in tea for bronchial maintenance.
- Use a a supplemental immunity booster
- Dab a few drops onto a tooth ache as a local analgesic.
Countless possibilities! Enjoy.
