Labor day weekend

Oh, how I do enjoy a 3-day weekend! With summer at an end, it seems only fitting to  have spent this last hoorah with the family.

We decided to take about a 45 minute drive from Portland en route to Dog Mountain hiking trail.

Driving along the gorge on a mid 70 degree weather day was absolutely ideal. We wound up however, missing our exit to cross over the 'Bridge if the gods' and continued on to Hood River, Oregon...Which in turn, was a pleasant mistake.

With out our for-knowledge, we found that Pfriem brewery (one our our choice brewmasters from this past brew fest), lie smack dab in the heart of the city's center!

Naturally, i ordered vegetarian; a fantastic chickpea burger (Shared with miss Zoe due to it's enormity), paired with their amazing IPA and Sean had their subtle flavored banh mi and a taster flight of wheat IPA, a tripple, dark and heavy, and a blonde.

We thought our day was at it's end after dinner but found ourselves (even after a little yoga time at the water front), yearning to tear up the PNW hiking trails.

So again we ventured onto the Washington side of gorge's highway 14. Not more than 10-15 minutes later, we were at Dog Mountain. We climbed for what felt like approximately 2 miles, until we began to lose daylight. Zoe made it the entire distance unassisted!

I am forever in awe of my family and all of our spontaneity, despite our need for structure.
