Birthday weekend success

Finally got Sean out of his birthday funk.

For some reason since his last two birthdays, he's set this mental standard for things always going wrong.

Luckily, this was far from the case.

I'm thankful to have such  an awesome small group of friends and a permissive job that allows me to plan this guy's birthday between breaks.

We wound up driving around yesterday to gather some supplies and check out some cool new drinking holes in Portland. First stop: Whole foods to gather some essentials, Next: Olympic Provisions to pick up Sean's birthday demand...

MEAT.

Afterwards, we walked down to Hair of the Dog brewery for a growler of their famous Blue Dot IPA, but grew impatient as the 3 staffed beer purveyors snubbed our presence. So, we split for Belmont station to grab some cheap local craft brew for the night. The place was swarming with border-riding, crock-wearing Washington tourists. We tried to grab a quick beer and again were turned off by negative vibes.

So again, we set off for our neighborhood home tap-room: Roscoe's. Immediately we were greeted with familiar friendly faces. I swear, that place feels like an episode of Cheers! Not only did this set the tone for the night, but our good ol' Purveyors had 3 of the best stouts and IPAs tapped and ready for our enjoyment whilst their contenders maintained the same banal beer list.

This filled me with pride. Roscoes, always keepin' it real.

Last night, we had a small gathering of close friends to celebrate Sean's birthday in a very intimate way.

With family and close friends being so far from touch, it's nice to have this.

Craft beer, good whiskey, fancy cheese, provisions, mother fucking pizza, and group painting...

Birthday perfection.
