Girl after my own heart...

It's ideal to have all the food and herbs you desire in your back yard, however it's virtually impossible to grow EVERYTHING you need in a narrow suburban back yard...So, the word of the day is: "scavenge".

Today, I noticed some ripe cherries on my bike to work today and thought: "it's time to meet a neighbor!"

Brian (our neighbor), his wife (who's name escapes me) and their two children allowed us to render their tree bare of all it's juicy, ripe cherries. We talked briefly about their choice of green-housing equipment and protective seasonal coverings and it was on to the next stop.

A gravel alley way a couple of houses down the street from us serves as a fruit picking refuge, tucked perfectly away from motor contaminants.

Rosemary and wild spearmint and again MORE cherries for the picking.

Today, Zoe learned a valuable lesson about picking, growth, and plant maturity. Relatable knowledge; something needed for a day to day understanding of life.
